A possible solution to the sampling/weighting problem

Hi, everyone. I woke up with a bit of insomnia, so I thought that I would post something that had occurred to me in my sleep. (Yes, I know that it makes me an inveterate dork that I think about these things in my sleep. I don't care.) Recently, my colleague, Student Redux, has been exploring methodological problems in sampling and weighting, and I had an idea that I wanted to explore as a possible solution.  Now, granted, I'm not committed to this, and I'd love to have your comments as further exploration of the topic.

Cool Tools: Introduction

As an analysis site inspired by the principles of the open source movement, our job would be incomplete if we didn't provide our readers with the tools to look at the numbers on their own. What good is all this talk about analytical openness if you can't take a look at our analysis yourself? So it is in that spirit that this column will cover free and open-source tools to allow interested individuals, cash-strapped local campaigns, or really anyone with the desire to do some number-crunching on their own to participate.
